How to Pamper Yourself on a Budget

by Demo Directory on 11/13/2012 - 12:15 pm

If you are on a budget, you are most likely trying to cut costs as much as you can. Unfortunately, that usually means cutting out your daily or weekly treats, such as your morning Starbucks coffee or your weekly manicure. Thankfully, you don’t have to sacrifice your beauty rituals if you are a budget. From discount haircuts to at-home facials, there are many ways to look good while saving money.

If you want to pamper your skin on a budget, you should try an at-home facial. The steps in the process are first to cleanse, exfoliate, open your pores, and apply a mask for about 10 minutes. While the mask is on, relax and treat your eyes with either cucumber slices or freshly steeped tea bags. Finally, rinse the mask and then apply moisturizer to you skin. Inexpensive facial masks and scrubs can be purchased at your local store, and offer the same benefits as going to the spa. If you want a more natural mask, you can make one from the ingredients in your kitchen, such as avocados. The high fat content and Omega 3 fatty acids do a wonder for your skin. Simply mash up an avocado into a creamy paste, and apply it to your skin. Let it sit for 10 to 15 minutes and wipe off with a warm cloth.

Giving yourself a manicure at home is as easy as going to your kitchen to grab the necessary supplies. Simply combine sugar with oil and rub on the hands. Continue to rub hands together until the sugar is dissolved. Afterwards, rinse your hands with warm water and dry. You will immediately see that your hands are smoother, softer and a lot easier on the budget. You can even invite your friends over for a girls’ night, and give each other manicures and pedicures. Not only is this a great social activity, but if you already have nail polish and polish remover handy, you will get pampered for free.

Soaking in the bathtub with bath oils is a luxurious experience. However, if you are on a budget, then it is not necessary to purchase expensive oils to have a moisturizing soak in the tub. All you need is to go to your kitchen and grab a bottle of olive oil. Olive oil has been used as a moisturizer for the skin for 5,000 years and is proven to improve the elasticity of the skin and condition dry skin. Light some candles, turn on some soothing music, and de-stress.

Make your own lip gloss for presents or for yourself at home. For a lemon lip gloss melt 2 teaspoons of beeswax, grate it first for easy melting. When it is melted, remove from heat, keep stirring, add in 1 teaspoon honey, 1 tablespoon vitamin E oil, 1 teaspoon of Aloe Vera, and one tablespoon of almond extract. When fully mixed, add 6 drops of essential lemon oil and put into small cosmetic containers with a lid.

Unless you have a friend who is a hair stylist, it’s best to go to the hair salon for a haircut. Contact your salon and ask about the price of a cut with a junior stylist. Junior stylists are new to the profession and to the salon, and it’s important for them to hone their skills and build a clientele. The salon will offer attractive rates to make a visit with a junior stylist more compelling. Another way to get a cheap haircut is to visit a salon school. Haircuts with graduating students can start as low as $15.

Saving money doesn’t have to mean cutting out your favorite beauty routines. There are many ways to look and feel beautiful, while also saving money at the same time.

Is Your Credit in Need of Serious Rep...

by Demo Directory on 11/05/2012 - 01:14 pm

The credit repair business is booming due to the poor economy. Repairing credit does take a lot of time. However, there are steps you can take right now to make sure your credit starts heading in the right direction.

Start the repair process by getting a fresh copy of your credit report. You can request 1 free credit report a year from the 3 major credit reporting agencies. Get your credit report, study it, and then figure out how you are going to go about getting it to a healthy place. It is crucial that you document any negative marks on your credit report. Review the list, and identify if any of these are due to mistakes or fraud. You will be able to fix your credit if you know what the negative items are. If you find any problems on your credit report while attempting to repair your credit score, contact the credit bureau through a dispute letter. You can find templates online that include all the information you'll need to send to begin an investigation and get the false information removed from your report.

Knowing how individual agencies report to bureaus will greatly improve your repair efforts. Different creditors may report problems based on certain criteria and use different time frames for reporting. Research the standards for credit cards, utilities and mortgage or rental companies to know when and how these issues are reported. Inquire about all available payment options that your creditor offers because it could save you money on interest and late charges. If you can pay one company late without incurring extra charges, you can be sure to pay them only after paying the more urgent bills.

Find out what regulations govern debt and debt collectors. It's not legal to be prosecuted for refusing to pay a bill, and you also are protected from harassment from collectors. Different states may have different statutes. They cannot harass or threaten you over the phone. You should be aware of what they're not allowed to do.

If collection agencies pick up your bills, make sure you work with them and set up payment plans. Your debtors will appreciate your communication and will be more willing to work with you. Avoiding your debts is not the best way to go; it won't help to lower your debt. Be truthful with debt collectors and tell them that you are having a hard time. They will appreciate the effort that you are making. Your bill can be lowered by as much as half if you take the time to talk with them. Staying honest with the debt collectors and making your best attempts to pay the bills means they will be more inclined to assist you.

Improve Your Memory with these Techni...

by Demo Directory on 10/29/2012 - 01:56 pm

Are you having problems remembering things? Issues with your memory are caused by a lot of different factors, and can have lots of impacts on your life. Memory impairment may cause extra stress for your home life, at work, and in the eyes of your social circles and family. Here are some easy memory improvement tips.

Cramming is a very poor way to study and should be avoided. If there is something you must remember, set up study sessions. Avoid attempting to absorb a great deal of information in one session. Your mind gets overwhelmed with too much information, and the next thing you know, you will be forgetting it rather quickly. Make sure you have regular study segments to ensure that your brain can remember things. Review what you’ve learned the same day you learn it, and at intervals thereafter. This “spaced rehearsal” is more effective than cramming, especially for retaining what you’ve learned.

Use mnemonic devices to assist you in retaining important information. This technique calls for linking the new information with something you already know well. Mnemonic tactics include songs or rhymes to help improve your memory in a fun way and reduce your frustration. Visualization can also help you remember an entire list of thing if you associate the images together.

In order to supplement your memory, try to rehearse or relate what you want to remember with things you already know. If something in your short term memory is associated with something you're very familiar with, it'll be easier for you to recall it. This will also make it easy for the information to move from your short-term memory to your long-term memory.

Being unable to recall facts and figures when your need to can be incredibly frustrating. One idea to try is to wipe your mind clean for a second. Let your mind drift to a peaceful and quiet place, clear your thoughts, and breathe in slowly and deeply. Afterwards, you can try to remember what it was you forgot about. Meditation is a great way to improve focus, concentration, creativity, and learning and reasoning skills. Studies show that meditation also helps improve many different types of conditions, including depression, anxiety, chronic pain, and high blood pressure.

We all know how physical exercise helps our body, and how important it is for our overall health. Now there’s another health benefit that comes from exercise: research is showing that exercise can also fuel our brain. Exercise activates countless neurons, which generate, receive, and interpret repeated, rapid-fire messages from the nervous system. These messages coordinate muscle contractions, vision, balance, organ function, and all of the complex interactions of bodily systems.
